If the Emancipation of Mimi heralded the “post-crazy” Mariah, E=mc (squared) should be the album that solidifies her comeback. Touch my Body, the first single from Mariah’s latest album, is subdued while riding that “umbrella-ella-ella” bounce. The synthetic vocal effect is wasteful of Mariah’s singular pitch and range, but does add to the subtle and restrained effect. It’s not my favorite track, but I expect it’ll be on heavy rotation on the hip-hop and r&b stations.
