Looks like Utada Hikaru, aka Hikki, is making her second breakthrough attempt. I’m wishing her luck, but my eyes are set on the gender bending ska punk ORESKA band. Anime otaku know them from Pinocchio, the closing theme song to Naruto, but they broke into the stateside indie scene when they became the first and only Japanese (and all-female) band to be invited to the extended South by Southwest Warped Tour. The producers of none other than High School Musical are making a feature length movie about ORESKA Band for release this summer. I might actually shell out $10 to see that in the theaters.

Ah yeah, ORESKA! I heard of them a few months back, and forgot about them since I’m not much of a fan of ska, but they are definitely a unique group! The trumpet girl is definitely the performer!

I’m also a fan of the trombones–how often to you see a pink slide? awesome.
