December 2010 in pictures

I can’t believe that we actually made it through 2010. I thought I would never find my way to the the end.

I often think back to Joannie’s Brooklyn memorial where Bob vowed to: love and care for the babies Joannie wanted and loved more than anything, and look out for each other so that she could finally rest, be at peace. I know many of us made this same promise to Joannie, to Ayumi and Yuuki, to ourselves, and it’s what guided us through the last 6 months. Fulfilling this promise is one way we will always have Joannie close to us and to Yuuki and Ayumi.

We…We being: Bobert, Mark, Elaine, and our cray-cray-crayzee (only in the best ways of course) posse of aunties, oncles, grandparents and Stranger Man Dressed as Santa That Bob Happened to Befriend While Returning From a Brisk Jog in the Park–We should be proud that we did not break the babies, they are five times bigger than their birth weight, are quick with a smile that threatens to crack open their faces, and sleep a solid 11 hrs at a time. ok, to be real, Bootleg Santa only played a minor supporting role at our holiday party…

We have surrounded Yuuki and Ayumi with warmth (it is an unforgivably cold winter), air conditioning (hi peeps, it was a Brooklyn summer), music, books, laughter, the smell of a home cooked meal (no solid foods yet), a trip to Maryland, holidays in the Bay Area, comfort, stability, and lots and lots of love.

A full list of 2010 Bonklet accomplishments to follow, but here is The Bonklet December of 2010.

Cheers!

Searching for baby jesus

≡ Category: Semi-daily thoughts |Comments Off

The winter holidays provided ample opportunity to think about…Jesus. Was he a carpenter? Can you really separate a Christmas tree from The Savior? Is Santa related to Baby Jesus? What would Jesus do about the cats pooping tinsel all over the house? If Mary is full of Grace, does that make her a lesbian? We may never know…

I was hoping the Baby Jesus promised to us in Laura’s three kings’ cake would provide the answers. But it seems our questions and ignorance scared him off. This cake was Savior free. Here are pictures from the most thorough demolition of a cake in search of Jesus ever.

“Each cake has a leeeetle baby Jeezus. If he’s in your slice, you host Christmas/J-day dinner next year!” #not_it!

Aunt-ee Rini says, “oh haaayyylll-no! These wailing babies are not to keep me awake next year.”

Catherine is absolutely convinced Baby-J is in the trash bin…

Ant-y Ewee sez, put it all through a sieve, let the doggles eat the non-baby remainders and we’ll have whatever the What is in our hands.

And in the end, no Jesus…

Whoa, toes!

Ayumi wants us to know she has discovered her toes, or as one astute auntie pointed out, she’s concerned we missed a spot in her diaper change…
